Triangle Community Foundation – Partner for Donors and Nonprofits

When I think about the Triangle area, I think
about how much it has grown and changed. There are many hands that have made our area one
of the top places to live in the country. It’s a great place to live, work, and play. My name is Sharon Davis, and I’m a true Triangle
native. This area has been good to me, and now it’s my turn to give back to the community
that has helped me grow and thrive. But not everyone has the same opportunities. I see
that every day. There are always people who could use a helping hand. This area is wonderful,
but there are difficult situations that need addressing here. I want to help, but I don’t
know where to start. I know there are organizations that need support, but I don’t have time to
do the research to make sure that my donations will be used effectively. So I met with my
financial advisor, asking about options for charitable giving. That’s when I heard about
Triangle Community Foundation, and met Greg. Greg works for Triangle Community Foundation.
He explained that the foundation has the right experience, staff, and inside knowledge of
who is making a difference here in our area. The Foundation has helped donors give back
to the Triangle for more than thirty years. That kind of track record is important to
me in a partner. Greg showed me how the Foundation works. The Foundation makes connections. They
see the problems in our area, and they see the organizations who are helping our community.
They also see all the people who want to help by donating time and resources. They are able
to help connect those people to the right organizations and address our area’s difficult
situations. Greg helped me set up a donor advise fund, so I can support organizations
that I care about. This makes me feel connected to those organizations, and connected directly
to making a difference in our community. I want my gift to count, so I’ve decided to
focus on three different causes: children who need warm coats in the winter, individuals
who need help transitioning to new jobs, and abused animals that need new homes. There’s
a common thread. All of these groups need someone to speak up for them. I’m so glad
I get to be that person. The fund will distribute my monies over time. I’ll make sure that it
lives on by adding my savings to the fund, and when I have time, they help me volunteer
with the charities directly. In addition, I’ve decided to put some money in the Foundation’s
Fund for the Triangle. The Fund for the Triangle looks at the area and tackles the most pressing
issues in our community. Issues like youth literacy, community development, environmental
conservation, and the arts. It’s so great to know that my money is going to good use,
and that I have a true partner in investing in the region. Triangle Community Foundation
and I are working together to make our area an even better place to learn, work, and play.
I never thought I could be a philanthropist, but now it’s possible. Want to join me? Contact
the Foundation to learn more about how you can make a difference today.
