RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents)

[inspirational music] We’re always looking to help
people make small changes in what they do, to enjoy their lives, but free from accidental injury. So RoSPA’s been around
since the end of 1916, when we were formed as the
London Safety First Council. We were formed to solve
a particular problem with regards to road safety. Since then, RoSPA’s grown, become an internationally
recognised safety organisation, we work across water and
leisure, home safety, workplace and educational safety as well. In the ’60s, we helped to bring
in drink driver legislations to stop people drinking and driving. In the 1990s, early 2000s, we
helped to bring in legislation with regards to preventing
mobile phone use behind the wheel and in people’s homes, we also help to bring in new regulations with regards to mixing valves to prevent children and
older people being scalded by hot water. Ever since RoSPA started life, We’ve focused on the three Es
of accident and prevention; education, engineering,
and then enforcement. And we’ve used a very much
evidence based approach to develop policy in
collaboration with our friends to drive those three elements
of accident prevention. And that’s helped in the
UK actually end up with world leading standards of road safety. As long as there are
people being left suffering the affects of having
had a serious accident, RoSPA’s going to be working
hard to enrich people’s lives through keeping them safe. RoSPA’s training consultancy are set apart from any other provider due to
the knowledge and experience we hold around the health
and safety training and consultancy area. The number of delegates,
RoSPA train in a year exceed 10,000 learners. Our pass rates are consistently 15-20% above the national average. Businesses would choose RoSPA for training for a couple of reasons. They have confidence in us, they know that they’ll
get high quality training from high quality, qualified
training personnel. And it means that they can take
the risk out of the decision on who to use for their training programs. Our consultants are really
at the top of their game. They’re experts, and specialists. They’ve got knowledge
that’s sometimes taken years to put together, and they’re
well respected by the people in their field, and they give
pragmatic realistic advice to our clients and
customers, and our members. RoSPA membership offers
access to our online portal which is packed full of guidance, policies,
templates and advice. It also offers the RoSPA
OSH Journal pulled together by leading experts, to
provide you news and updates about the industry. Members get access to
network with other members by participating in awards and events that are held around the UK. Receiving a RoSPA Award
is a huge achievement for any organisation, and what a better way to
celebrate than to attend one of the ceremonies in
Birmingham, London or Glasgow. You get your award presented on stage, you can make some memories, by having some group photographs taken, and also network with
other RoSPA Award winners. From a workplace’s point of view, making RoSPA your chosen charity is a really good way of starting some of the safety
conversations with your staff, and also to get them to
share their stories with us. And that’s great, because
we rely on working with organisations who
absolutely buy into our mission, and our vision for a life free from serious accidental injury. RoSPA’s traditionally
focused on the United Kingdom in terms of workplace and also our roads. But that expertise that
we’ve built over 100 years, is actually prized by other countries. RoSPA’s work is really important to literally everyone in society, keeping people independent,
hale and hearty, for as long as possible throughout life, is a crucial part of what we do. We and our amazing network
of partners and supporters– Are driven by the knowledge that accidents don’t have to happen. We hope you can be a part of our journey– By joining us to make life free from serious accidental injury. We are RoSPA.
