Enlightened Society Is Not a Utopian State -Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Shambhala

What we are saying in Shambhala and what the Dorje Dradul [Trungpa Rinpoche] was saying and what we are expressing here is again that society is not a Utopian state; but that it is a society that has enough confidence and trust to acknowledge humanity’s most innate principle; and traditionally society is actually defined as a network of individuals who are brought together by a common purpose or principle. What is the principle of our society now? Well the notion of enlightened society is that if at the subliminal level that we can create a society where enlightenment is not a state, but is a descriptive adjective, in that it is the willingness for us to wake up and look and to see what our nature is and what society’s nature is.

  1. It's strange,I was talking to my daughter last night about this and this video popped up like an answer to her question.

  2. Hello, penny. We first connected via Rock magazine, and finally met in New York, with many, many letters/cards in between. A card w/an image of Buddha was the last from you. I've noted you are still involved w/Buddhism, and other subjects that, I believe, are still connecting our ways of life/thoughts, etc., as if the deeper parts of ourselves still resound. Remember poetry, love, passion….will you please respond (if you can) via my email. Love, V.

  3. Hi Victoria, How wonderful to hear from you and so auspiciously. I am still in touch with Kathy. She is in Seattle. I am here,in Woodstock. Actually in the country outside. In the woods really. All is well for me for the first time in about 20 years,so I am reconnecting with old friends and should not be so startled. If you are on Facebook, you can friend me there or I am at [email protected] Please write and tell me how you are.
